To support the launch of their sustainable sub-brand, Coachtopia, Coach embedded each item with a unique Digital ID to drive full lifecycle transparency, scale circular business models and support on-product authentication. By scanning a QR code or NFC tag on their product, Coachtopia customers can access transparent product details and environmental impacts, and guarantee their item’s authenticity. They can also connect their product to their Coach account to access a range of circular services to prolong the lifespan. As the item is repaired, restored, reused and reimagined over multiple lives, the digital passport records its journey and guarantees its authenticity.

Introducing Coachtopia

Every Coachtopia product comes with a unique Digital ID to drive lifecycle transparency, scale circular services and instantly authenticate.
An NFC chip is embedded into all handbags, footwear and apparel items, and highlighted for easy customer identification with a custom connected cloud emblem.
By scanning their product, customers can access transparent product details and environmental impacts, and guarantee their item’s authenticity. They can also connect their product to their Coach account to access circular services.

Connecting to Gen Z customers

By scanning the “connected cloud” emblem on their product, Coachtopia customers activate the NFC (the same technology used in mobile pay) and access the product’s digital passport.
Coachtopia created a short animated video to instruct customers where to locate their product’s NFC chip, how to activate it, and what the digital passport experience.

A 1:1 relationship between products and customers

Customer scans their product with their phone and registers it to their Coach account.

Customer receives an email confirmation that their product is now connected.

Customer can now access a range of circular services from Coachtopia.

Events such as registration, repair, resale and more are recorded on the product’s Digital ID.
